Readers of the Carl Kruse Arts blog are warmly invited to a cross-disciplinary cultural evening on Saturday, June 27: Das Vokalprojekt x Richard Scott at the Musikbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg – combining high-level a cappella singing, electroacoustic sound, and the industrial atmosphere of one of Berlin’s most distinctive venues.
Das Vokalprojekt is a vocal ensemble founded in 2013, bringing together 25 highly trained singers from across Germany, including two members of the Ivy Circle. Known for its refined ensemble sound, precise intonation, and ambitious programming, the group performs repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary works and experimental collaborations. For those who enjoy the precision and blend of Oxbridge-style choral singing, this should feel familiar.

For this concert, the ensemble collaborates with Richard Scott, a Berlin-based composer, performer, improviser, educator, and modular synthesist with a deep background in free improvisation, electroacoustic composition, and analogue modular synthesis. His work explores the space between composition, improvisation, technology, and live performance.
The programme includes a cappella works by Hubert Parry, Eric Whitacre, Cecilia McDowall and Amy Beach, interwoven with Richard Scott’s electronic soundworld.
There is also a bar afterwards at the venue, making it a good opportunity to stay and socialize after the performance.
