The German Cambridge Society is delighted to invite the Carl Kruse Arts Blog to Lightforms, an exclusive evening of music inspired by visual ideas, color, texture, motion, and shape.  Performed by Arc:3. A special house concert near the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg on Friday, June 5, at 20:00.

Cambridge alumnus Jess Thomas is the violinist in this trio that also features Katya Sourikova on piano and Michael Avery on double bass. Three musicians from different backgrounds who each contribute their own approaches to improvisation, structure, rhythm, and sound. It was Arc:3 who accompanied the recent Ivy Circle finissage of Gwendolyn Kerber‘s art at HELL Galerie and much of the trio’s work begins with visual images or abstract concepts that serve as the basis for musical exploration and interaction. This results in soundscapes amongst fine textures, spontaneous encounters, recurring motifs, and liberated musical shapes.

In music as with visual art, fresh perspectives often arise when existing ideas are placed in a different context.

The evening will begin with a solo improvisation on the piano by Katya Sourikova and will then segue into a program incorporating the trio. After around 75 minutes of this unique concert there will be ample opportunity to chat to the musicians and network with other Ivy Circle members over drinks and snacks.

Entrance is free of charge. Wine and soft drinks are provided free of charge but we ask for a generous donationfor the musicians.

As the room capacity is limited, please register for a free ticket here: https://buytickets.at/germancambridgesocietyev/2226207

Many thanks to Nigel Luhman of the German Cambridge Society and to the Ivy Circle for the invitation and I look forward to seeing you there.

The exact address will be sent to all who register a few days before the event.
